India picks blockchain lessons in crypto valley

Publication- The Economic Times

Edition- Online

Date- 04 June, 2019

An Indian delegation that recently studied public blockchain activity in the Swiss city of Zug, known as the crypto valley, is expected to recommend policy changes aimed at adopting a similar framework in the country. “The Swiss focus on building conducive framework conditions is a big takeaway from this trip. They stay hands off and don't promote particular sectors or technologies,” said Tanvi Ratna, one of the team members and a US-India Fellow of the New America Foundation.

The Reserve Bank of India’s ‘Draft Enabling Framework for Regulatory Sandbox’, released on April 18 had considered blockchain applications for testing. Already, pilot tests of enterprise public blockchain are being conducted by the Niti Aayog in partnership with Oracle, Apollo Hospitals and drug maker Strides Pharma Sciences. The Andhra Pradesh government, in partnership with German genomics company Shivom, is conducting yet another pilot.

Along with proving recharging, booking movie tickets and so much more options, Paytm has grown into a full-fledged payments bank. It has also incorporated BHIM UPI in its system to ease the payments procedure through Paytm. Despite of all these measures, it is dramatically losing out its consumer ratio to competitors Google Pay and PhonePe.

In 2005, the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse detailed 136 data breaches. However, between 2005-2015, a range of ten years, more than 4,500 data ruptures were made public. From that point forward, the issue has nearly turned into a pestilence and more terrible. The results have turned out to be progressively serious. This is an issue no business can stand to overlook.

No businessman expects a cybercriminal to get to their clients’ private information. However, independent ventures are in reality more defenseless to data breaches than big organizations. Trustwave research reports that 90% of all data breach influence independent companies. Retail is hit the hardest, with the food and beverage retail organizations coming in with a close second.

An independent venture is helpless, and cyber criminals know it. Data breaches occur once a day, and indeed, you’re the practical target. Keeping your organization from turning into the victim of the next data breach requires a multi-faceted methodology, including setting up stricter strategies controlled starting from the top.
